Una Cocina De Barro

10 sqm kitchen refurbishment for a family that loves pottery, in Vyron, Athens, Greece. There is an interesting story behind this project and the selection of colors, materials and forms . The old kitchen of the house was manufactured by the hands of the grandpa of the family, who used to be carpenter and amateur potter. Thus, the family wanted to replace the old carpentry, in a symbolic way . The terracotta colour selected is a reminiscent of the clay, while the white upper cupboards are textured, the way a natural material would be. The beam in the center of the space, is smoothed by a plaster curve, highlighted with a led stripe placed in the small niche at the lower part. The table, which is part of the kitchen construction, has also a rounded side. Those curvy forms are an indirect reference to the forms of clay vessels.
